Regents Inns to Offer Poker in the Pub

In the UK, the Regents Inn chain of pubs has announced that it has teamed up with Gastro Gaming Company to offer poker regularly at around 40 venues.

Regents Inn’s portfolio includes the Walkabout, Bar Risa and Jongleurs chains and it stated that it is aiming at hosting 50 poker in the pub events by next spring. Its format will allow a maximum of 40 customers to buy-in direct to a pub event online at PlayPubPoker.com for two low amounts with a maximum prize of $200.

“Poker is an ideal fit for Regent Inns, whose brands are synonymous with live entertainment,” said Nicholas Hagen, Spokesman for Gastro Gaming Company.

Poker and other equal-chance games have been legal in British pubs since September but the venues cannot charge a fee or take a percentage from stakes or prizes.

“Poker is the new trivia and pubs and clubs are desperate to get involved,” said Sarah Meehan, Managing Director for the Amateur National Poker League.
