More poker players than ever are trying some of the variants of the game. Omaha, Razz, Seven Card Stud - all of them great games in their own ways, and more fun when combined with Hold’em to make up H.O.R.S.E. Poker Stars has recently completed its inaugural training session in how to play
H.O.R.S.E is the acronym for Hold’em, Omaha high-low, Razz, Seven Card Stud, and Eight or Better Seven Card Stud. The idea of that a ‘mixed game’ like this, where the game changes every rotation, is a true test of a poker player’s ability. The genre has achieved more followers recently, a lot of this owing the inclusion of the $50,000 buy in WSOP event since 2006. It is also part of WCOOP - the World Championship Of Online Poker, held annually on Poker Stars.
Now players will be able to take part in a master class with Barry Greenstein, who regularly plays all varieties of the game in the Bellagio’s ‘Big Game’. The classes can be bought with Frequent Player Points, the loyalty reward system used by ‘Stars.
In the inaugural class, which was attended by seven players, Michael 'The Grinder' Mizrachi joined in the fun, and Greenstein donated his fee to the Children Incorporated charity.
Poker Stars is hoping to offer the Master class with Greenstein four times a year, with the next one pencilled in for February.
