Poker 'more popular' than Britney

Poker has shown its popularity in a new study of web-based searches, where it tops even Britney in terms of hit power.

Although Britney Spears has been drawing more hits than ever on the web this year as fans and critics grow more and more interested in the train wreck of her life, 'poker' still gets more internet searches than the troubled star, according to Lycos.

For the second consecutive year poker was the most searched item on Lycos in 2007, buoyed by the success of the World Poker Tour and celebrity poker tournaments.

It now means that online gambling is a consistent search term, even beating networking sites in popularity.

MySpace was third in the list of most searched item, with Britney taking second and Paris Hilton placing third.

Golf was the next most popular search term followed by YouTube, Naruto, Disney, Pokemon and WWE.
