Two Brits scoop poker awards

Russian poker player Alexander Kravchenko has taken the title of Player of the Year at the European Poker Awards, but two Brits also scooped a couple of prizes.

Held at the Aviation Club in Paris, the UK's Madeline Harper was one of the Brits to be acknowledged, winning the Poker Staff Person of the Year award, for her media support work at the European Poker Tour (EPT).

Although Roland De 'Big Bad' Wolfe was nominated for the top prize, the Russian pipped him to the accolade after winning the $1,500 Omaha Hi Lo event at the World Series Of Poker (WSOP). He also reached two additional final tables and cashed six times during the tournament.

EPT tournament director Thomas Kremser was finally honoured with a Lifetime Achievement Award after achieving nominations in the Casino Staff Person of the Year award every year since 2001.

He was also the tournament director on the TV show Late Night Poker when it first began.

His colleague, Rob Gardner, was given a special posthumous award for pioneering Late Night Poker. He was claimed by cancer earlier this year aged 36. Poker commentator Jesse May picked up the award on his friend's behalf.
