NBC Heads-Up Championship Invitations Sent

The NBC National Heads-Up Championship has proved to be an intriguing TV tournament, with 64 of the best players in the world going head to head to take down what can be considered some of the best bragging rights in the industry. This year the line up includes a blend of poker’s most recognisable faces alongside some of the hottest players from 2007.

The veterans are well represented, with Doyle Brunson, Barry Greenstein, Antonio Esfandiari, Erick Lindgren, Johnny Chan, Phil Ivey, and Gavin Smith all coming back to try win the title. Defending champion Paul Wasicka has been invited back, as well as Chris Ferguson, who finished 2nd in 2005 and 2006.

New faces who will be featuring in the contest are 2007’s emerging star Jonathon Little, high-stakes cash game player Brian Townsend and 2007 WSOP Champion Jerry Yang.

Although the players haven’t confirmed their participation, the invites are considered something of an honour. The event will take play in Caesars Palace in Las Vegas, and play begins on 28th February 2008.
