Online Poker Cheating Investigation Completed

In Canada, the Kahnawake Gaming Commission has announced that an investigation undertaken by Gaming Associates into the cheating scandal that rocked online poker room AbsolutePoker.com in the autumn has ended.

The Commission, which licenses Absolute, stated that it is now reviewing the report and expects to make a decision within the next two weeks.

AbsolutePoker.com found itself in hot water in September after the playing community unearthed evidence of cheating in a tournament. After initially denying the accusations, management for the online poker room eventually admitted that, following a software upgrade, one of its employees had gained access to information on other players' hole cards that enabled him to cheat them out of hundreds of thousands of dollars.

AbsolutePoker.com subsequently refunded those players disadvantaged by the incident but never formally identified or charged the cheating employee. Numerous unofficial leaks from the firm appeared to accuse ex-Nine.com Manager AJ Green but he has never commented on the allegation.

With pressure over the incident, the Commission stepped in and announced that it had commissioned independent gaming fairness and audit company Gaming Associates to investigate and report.
