Full Tilt Poker Overtakes Party Poker in Online Market

Full Tilt Poker, home of the likes of Phil Ivey, Gus Hansen and Howard Lederer, overtook PartyPoker this week in one of the industry’s most cherished rankings list. Real cash players on the site were just short of 10,000 over an average of 24 hours, whilst the peak figure also just pipped PartyPoker. PartyPoker have been suffering since having left the US market just over a year around.

Pokerstars are still top of the bunch, with twice as many players as Full Tilt. Pokerstars hit their own milestone this week, being the first site to have 20,000 real money cash game players simultaneously sat down at their tables, as well as 150,000 online in total.

PartyPoker are also being pursued by other online poker networks, with OnGame and the iPoker networks closing the gap in the international markets on the one-time market leader.

Other sites which are still accepting American clients have also done well. Bodog, Absolute Poker and UltimateBet are promising to press with advertising to reclaim their share of the market, this despite a security breach this autumn which proved very damaging to Absolute Poker.
