Anthrax guitarist plays poker for veterans

Scott Ian, the guitarist of heavy metal band Anthrax, will play in a charity poker tournament in aid of US war veterans.

On January 12th celebrities and professional players will battle against mixed-martial arts fighters in the name of war veteran charity, Xtreme Couture GI Foundation.

The No Limit Hold'em poker tournament is named Operation: All-In and all money raised will go to help soldiers who have been injured in the line of duty, plus supporting their families.

Taking place at The Joint inside the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino, a field of 150 will buy into the poker tourney for $550 for a crack at the guaranteed prize pool of $50,000.

The guitarist is himself a veteran of Texas Hold'em, having triumphed in last year's Rockstars of Poker on VH1.

He beat other rock heavyweights, including the legendary Sully Erna of Godsmack to take the title and a seat at the 2007 UltimateBet Aruba Poker Classic tournament.
