Shane Warne mentored by Hachems

Shane Warne has announced that since his retirement from international cricket, he is to turn professional poker player, taking tips from none other than Joe and Tony Hachem.

According to the Herald Sun, Warne will travel across the world playing poker, including trying his hand at the World Series of Poker (WSOP) in Las Vegas.

"Nothing will replace the 20 years of cricket in my life but there are a lot of similarities," he said. "It's a game of skill that has a lot of analogies to cricket. You have to be very, very disciplined.

"I'm really excited. Hopefully this will replace the competitive spirit that I had with cricket."

Winner of the WSOP in 2005, Joe Hachem has been helping Warne to up his game and the cricketer sees the famous pro and his brother Tony on a weekly basis.

"Joe and Tony have taught me a lot, and what excellent teachers to have," he said. "But my attitude is I've got a lot more to learn about the game."

Warne added that his poker career will not take up so much of his time, leaving him free to spend time with his family and children.

"The travel is different. It's obviously not like a cricket tour and will be in small stages," he said.
