Tuesday 15th January 2008 European Poker Championships in Poker Royale Casino
Mainland Europe’s largest Card Casino – the Poker Royale in Wiener Neustadt, Austria – has another spectacular event in mind for 2008, having announced it will be hosting the European Poker Championships between 18th April – 4th May.
The Championships will last a staggering 17 days, with tournaments in a number of disciplines No Limit Hold’em and Limit Hold’em as well as in Pot Limit Omaha and Limit Seven Card Stud.
The opening event, a Jackpot guaranteed No Limit Hold’em tournament with a buy-in of € 70 and unlimited rebuys will take place on April 18th, 2008. Guaranteed Prize pool € 30.000, whilst the four main events in the series will be played in No Limit Hold’em, Limit Hold’em, Pot Limit Omaha and Limit Seven Card Stud, each with a € 1,000 buy in.
The winners of the four main events plus the 20 top-ranked players after those 4 main-events will play another tourney. They will have to play No Limit Texas Hold’em, Pot Limit Omaha and Seven Card Stud all in one tourney and the winner will be crowned European ‘Lord of Poker’. That would look good on any CV, right?
If you’re a bit more of a sit-and-go specialist, the second tournament week will also have qualifing rounds for the European Sit & Go Championships, each with a buy-in of € 16. Winners will advanced to Round 2, which will be a €125 buy-in, with the winner of those going into the final-round which is worth € 1,000 each. Direct buy ins to this round won’t be possible.
A Team Event wraps up the festival, and for those who like to mix holidays with poker, this looks to be a real candidate for tournaments to mix relaxtion with poker!
