Austrian Companies Not To Merge

The General Director of Casinos Austria has clarified his company’s relationship with Austrian Lotteries in response to numerous rumours that the two were about to merge.

Karl Stoss stated that the two firms plan to establish an online poker room in the near future using technology bought from an unidentified supplier in Sweden but that the two would not be merging. He stated that the new room would be set up at Win2Day.at in an attempt to benefit from the boom in regional poker playing.

In addition, bets on the site are to be limited to just over $1,000 per week per player in an effort to reduce the risk of problem gambling.

'We are not thinking about a merger but only considering the possibility of increasing the bundling of some of our functions,' said Stoss.

He added that Casinos Austria was also considering selling its current headquarters in order to relocate elsewhere within Vienna.

Win2Day.at is a multi-channel gaming platform jointly operated by Austrian Lotteries and Casinos Austria and is accessible via PC or mobile phone launched in 2003 to replace WebClub.at. The site offers players a choice of traditional Austrian lottery games along with a selection of online casino games.
