Day Two in Tunica Comes to an End

The remaining 143 players came to Tunica facing the tasking of making the last 27 and a payday. With the task of losing 116 players, everyone was prepared for a long day at the office.

Perhaps the prospect of poker overtime didn’t appeal to some though, preferring to make their move in the tournament well before the $12,060 bubble had burst. Those who found themselves using the exit were Steve Billirakis, Humberto Brenes, David Williams, Vanessa Rousso, Alex Jacob, David Pham and Nam Le.

One guy who was enjoying it all was John ‘The Razor’ Phan, who was going about his business both loudly and assisted by beers. He was soon involved in every pot, and his chip count was up and down quicker than the bottles of beer. It all got too much, and the table began to get irritated at how long Phan was taking on some decisions. In one hand, he managed to order a few bottles of Dom Perignon for Kathy Liebert and drink a glass of the stuff before calling an all-in bet. The irritation may have been the response Phan was after though, and by the end of the day he ended up with 169,000 chips and a rather large headache.

Other players who managed to have a good day were Men ‘The Master’ Nguyen and Hoyt Corkins, both of whom managed to push their table around in their usual fashion. Dutch Boyd also managed to get 400,000 chips together, and will be good shape for Day 3. Barry Greenstein also got himself near the top of the leaderboard with some small-ball poker and isn’t far behind overnight chip leader Erick Lindgren, who also hit some timely flops at the end of the day to get himself into the box seat.

Here are the top 10 chip counts.

1. Erick Lindgren – 498,000

2. Dutch Boyd – 440,000

3. Gabe Costner – 402,000

4. Freddy Deeb – 324,000

5. Men Nguyen – 323,000

6. Barry Greenstein – 280,000

7. William McMahon – 265,000

8. Michael Baas – 247,000

9. John Spadavecchia – 223,000

10. Jimmy Tran – 204,000
