Devilfish sinks Player of the Year title

Dave 'Devilfish' Ulliott has bagged the CardPlayerEurope.com Player of the Year title in a top ten list dominated by British poker pros.

Although Devilfish had not looked a dead cert to lift the 2007 accolade, his third-place finish in the World Poker Tour Doyle Brunson Classic in December, meant he pipped fellow British representative Chris Bjorin to the top of the leader board.

On 3,446 points, Devilfish earned his points with five final table finishes over the past year and $1.2 million dollars in winnings.

Bjorin had practically owned the leader board for most of the year after making three World Series of Poker final tables.

But in the WPT Doyle Brunson Classic, he could only manage 15th, allowing Ulliott to push ahead.

Norway's Annette Obrestad placed third, pushed up the rankings by winning the World Series of Poker Europe Main Event in London and coming second in the European Poker Tour Dublin.

For Britain, Mark Teltscher came in seventh place in the European Player of the Year rankings.

Devilfish now joins Roland De 'Big Bad' Wolfe and Max Pescatori in holding the CardPlayerEurope.com European Player of the Year title.
