Monday 4th February 2008 Griffin grabs poker trio
Gavin Griffin has broken a poker record after becoming the first player to win a World Series Of Poker (WSOP) bracelet, a World Poker Tour (WPT) title and a European Poker Tour (EPT) title.
His latest win was at the 2008 Borgata Poker Classic Championship, for which he bagged $1,401,109 in cash, a custom Harley-Davidson motorcycle, a Tag Heuer watch and a seat worth $25,000 seat for the WPT Championship, swisspoker website reports.
In the Head's Up, David 'Big Dragon' Tran was not quite good enough to beat 26-year-old Griffin, although he did take home $737,685 for his efforts.
Griffin first hit the poker headlines in 2004 when he beat the record for the youngest player to win a WSOP bracelet when he won the $3,000 Pot Limit Hold'em event at just 22-years-old. In 2007, the youngster then won $2.4 million for his victory at the European Poker Tour Grand Final and first place in the EPT Grand Final in Monte Carlo, which bagged him 1,825,010 euros. He has cashed 12 times in his short career so far and walked away from final tables $3,722,311 richer.
