Obrestad does the poker triple

Annette Obrestad has received a resounding pat on the back from her homeland after scooping three prizes at the Scandinavian Poker Awards.

The 19-year-old Norwegian picked up not only the Norwegian Golden Hand, put also the accolades for Best Female Poker Player and Best Performance of the Year.

Of course no one can forget the performance which earned her the final award after the astonishing victory the young lady achieved at the World Series Of Poker (WSOP) Europe.

She trounced a field of 361 players, including many famous poker pros to take first place, breaking two records as she did so.

Ms Obrestad became the first female player to win a Main Event on the WSOP circuit as well as well as the youngest.

Trond Erik Eidsvig lost out to Annette in the battle for the Golden Hand award, which is the only poker award to be handed out in Norway.

Ms Obrestad managed to cash almost $2.5 million in poker tournaments in 2007, but will have to wait until she is 21 to see if she can break more records by winning the WSOP Main Event in Las Vegas.
