Online Casinos Lose Accreditation

Non-profit player protection body eCommerce and Online Gaming Regulation and Assurance (eCOGRA) has suspended its accreditation for six online gambling venues in the Casino Action group of companies.

London-based eCOGRA stated that its Compliance and Advisory Services staff had recently conducted an on-site review of operations at the sites as part of a normal seal renewal process and found failures in compliance with its Generally Accepted Principles.

ChallengeCasino.com, GoldenReefCasino.com, iBigCasino.com, MusicHallCasino.com, NostalgiaCasino.com, and UKCasinoClub.com were found to have failed the wide-ranging requirements governing all aspects of an accredited company's operations and had their accreditations suspended.

eCOGRA sets online gambling standards and provides an international framework for best operational and player protection practice requirements enforced through inspections and reviews along with continuous monitoring. Companies that have achieved accreditation are entitled to bear the organisation's Safe and Fair seal, indicating to players that the operational systems and games on their sites are continuously monitored to consistently high standards.

This is only the second time in the five years that eCOGRA has existed that it has ever pulled its accreditation. The only precedent was the suspension of the Jackpot Factory group following accusations of underhand search engine optimisation activities that led to a $25,000 fine before the group was reinstated.

eCOGRA stated that management of these online casinos had been advised of its actions and invited to comment on the findings of the audit review.

In addition, it said that its operations regarding ArcticPoker.com had not formed any portion of its review and that the seal for this site had been revoked as the time by which it should have been reviewed had expired.
