Bizarre antics of Danish poker tourney champ

Despite being down to only $11,000 chips on the first day of the European Poker Tour (EPT) Scandinavian Open, Tim Vance was always confident he would triumph at the tourney.

The 46-year-old seemed so confident of himself that he demonstrated a bizarre range of antics on the way to his win.

According to Pokerstars website, Mr Vance played excitedly, singing, shouting and pumping his fists and he also speculated on opponents' hands.

Of course once the 11 hours on the final table were under his belt, he had every reason to be cheerful, walking away with more than $1.2 million and the Scandinavian title.

Mr Vance beat a field of 459 other poker players and took four-and-a-half hours to finish off the last man standing, Soren Jensen of Denmark.

Winning the final hand at with an ace high spade flush, he told Mr Jensen: "It's been nice playing with you, sir. I call."

Even before play at the final table started, his confidence was clear.

"I don't mean to be arrogant but I'm going to play my game and they're done," he said.

As part of his win, Mr Vance received a seat at the EPT Grand Final in Monte Carlo this April and will take his daughter, Nanzi, with him.
