Victory for Moore at Wynn Classic

Chicago-based poker player Chris Moore battled his way to his first major title yesterday.

Moore became the 2008 Wynn Classic champion after coming from behind to beat Ryan Young in the heads-up, Card Players reports.

Young led for much of the final table and had a significant chip lead going into the last two, but Moore was able to overcome his disadvantage and take the title and the $692,286 (£349,537) winner's prize.

The win will no doubt make up for disappointment at last year's tournament, where Moore came agonisingly close to victory, finishing in third place.

He is now 45th in Card Player's online player of the year list and is very close to joining the exclusive group of poker professionals to have generated more than $1 million from live tournaments.

Young's consolation prize for coming second was $355,020, while Blair Cahail received exactly half that amount for placing third.
