Foxwoods gets under way

Preliminary events at the Foxwoods Poker Classic continue, Card Player reports.

The poker games begin the build-up to the WPT championship event this Friday - which will have a prize of $10,000.

Proceedings picked up pace with a $600 seven-card Stud game, won by Neal Friets.

Later, Andrew Kloc scooped the $600 no-limit event - with Bryan Tessier scooping the prize at the $600 limit hold 'em the following day.

This was followed by the flagship $1,000 no-limit hold 'em game, which was competed for by a total of 582 players.

The game was won by William Hill, who scooped $108,329 - with second place taken by Christopher MacNeil.

On Saturday it was the turn of the ladies, in which Karen Goncalves won $32,018.
