Ex bull rider lassos Poker Challenge

The 2008 WPT World Poker Challenge has been won by Lee Markholt.
Beating out top table stalwarts Zachary Hyman, Jeff DeWitt and David 'The Dragon' Pham, the tournament marks the champion's first WPT win.

In a "short-lived" finale, Mr Markholt claimed victory over Bryan Devonshire.

"Just two hands in, Mr Devonshire got all of his chips in the middle; after he was quickly called, Mr Devonshire knew he was in trouble with his pair of fours," Card Player reports.

"Trouble was an understatement, because Mr Markholt had him drawing dead with two pairs."

The former bull rider claimed $493,815 along with the victory - as well as a $25,000 place at this month's WPT championship at the Bellagio.

In recent years Mr Markholt, from Eatonville, Washington State, has previously placed ninth in the 2007 WPT Legends of Poker and fourth in the 2006 Jack Binion WSOP Circuit Event.
