Female player describes her love for poker

Saint Ralph star and World Series of Poker bracelet winner Jennifer Tilly has spoken of her love for poker.

A rising star of the World Poker Tour, Tilly said this can be attributed to the "democratic" nature of the game where anybody with the money and the inclination can buy in and compete against first-class players.

"I have. It's up to you as far as what you do with it," she told the Orlando Sentinel.

She recently earned a 12th place finish at a World Poker Tour event, winning £60,000.

But it has not all been plain sailing for the actress-turned-poker enthusiast.

"In poker, you can't let a wince of pain sneak out when you see the flop. I didn't realise how much I was giving away until I saw myself play on TV," she remarked.

But now she keeps a straight face, wears glasses and 'reads' other people.

Tilly is semi-regular cast member on cartoon series Family Guy and her film credits include Bride of Chucky, Deal and Dancing at the Blue Iguana.
