Hansen slips to second at WPT finale

Gus Hansen was unable to hold on to his chip lead on day four of the World Poker Tour (WPT) Championship at the Bellagio casino in Las Vegas.

The Great Dane was overtaken by Amir Vahedi, who has 3,907,000 chips against Hansen's 2,929,000.

Hansen's number two spot is under threat as well, as Tom Dwan - who famously knocked Phil Hellmuth out of the National Heads-Up Poker Championship earlier this year - is just 55,000 behind in third.

Reigning champion Carlos Mortensen will not be able to retain his title after being eliminated, while Tom Schneider, JC Tran, Men Nguyen and TJ Cloutier joined him in the loser's lounge.

David Tran, Andy Black and Jeff Shulman are three big names who remain in the competition.

There are 17 players left heading into the penultimate day of the championship and 11 will go tonight, leaving a final table of six to fight it out for the trophy tomorrow.
