Twaddle beats Lang to Borgata title

Schuyler Twaddle won the first big tournament of his career last night, after a chopped prize pot handed him victory at the $500,000 Guaranteed Deep Stack Poker Tournament at the Borgata in Atlantic City.

Twaddle had more chips left at the end than the three other remaining competitors and thus the $395,095 winner's prize went his way, Bluff magazine reports.

Weiwen Lang was second, followed by Alan Engel and Mark Reynolds.

Several famous players attended the $2,000 buy-in tournament, with World Poker Tour titlist Roy Winston one of the big names to go home early.

Writing in his Card Player blog, Winston suggested the Borgata had managed to buck the trend of dwindling participant numbers, implying he could not believe that as many as 800 people had turned up to compete.

The three-day event had an eight-man final table, which was rounded out by John Racener, Larry Goldstein, Eric Siegel, Mihail Stoykove and Richard Marshall.
