Innovations Heading To Poker After Dark Season 4

For many, the introduction of High Stakes Poker to the television schedules meant a blissful existence, with tournament poker covered by the World Poker Tour and WSOP, while HSP covered the cash games. What Poker After Dark though is tapped into watching entire sit and gos, from the first riffle of the cards to the final river. The format has proved successful for three seasons already, but the fourth will see some innovative additions to the format.

Ten new episodes will be aired stateside from early July, but some exciting changes mean even the most weathered of poker show viewers may find something warming during season four.

As well as the usual selection of six-handed ‘winner takes all’ freezeouts, viewers will not be able to enjoy heads-up play and cash games on the show. One week will showcase a double-elimination heads-up battle between the four men who have won NBC’s National Heads-Up Poker Championship; Phil Hellmuth, Ted Forrest, Paul Wasicka and Chris Ferguson. The men will buy-in for $50,000 per head, with the winner taking all $200,000.

The cash game fans will also have two weeks to watch twelve of the best players in the world play in a $200/$400 No Limit Hold’em game, too. The players who will be anteing in will be Howard Lederer, Dee Tiller, Gabe Kaplan, Patrik Antonius, Doyle Brunson, and Eli Elezra during one week, with Guy Laliberte, Phil Hellmuth, Tom Dwan, Allen Cunningham, Mike Baxter, and Antonio Esfandiari playing the second week.
