Monday 30th June 2008 WSOP Event #46, $2,000 Short-Handed No Limit Hold’em: Commisso Wins Record Heads Up Match
Six-max tables tend to be quite aggressive affairs. It seemed that the final table of Event 46 was going to be a brisk affair too, after three of the six were sent packing after just 28 hands. Only when the play went to three-handed did the action slow down, and boy, didn’t it slow down…
In the end the tournament was decided in an epic 209 hands of heads-up poker, a record number of hands for this series so far. In the end it was Joe Commisso who came out on top, with Richard Lyndaker having to settle for second place. Ironically, the elimination came on the thirteenth all in between the two players – obviously unlucky for Lyndaker.
Davidi Kitai’s quest for his second bracelet of the series came to an end when he went out in sixth. Another fine finish for the Belgian player, and will certainly not harm his quest to be the WSOP Player of the Year.
