A charity poker tournament at the Gold Country Casino in Oroville, California can count on at least one top professional to be in attendance.
Jerry Yang, who shot to fame by winning the World Series of Poker (WSOP) main event in 2007, has confirmed he will be at the benefit in an attempt to raise money for people affected by fire, the Oroville Mercury-Register reports.
The 40-year-old has a history of giving money to charity, having donated ten per cent of his $8.25 million WSOP winnings to the Ronald McDonald House Foundation and other aid organisations.
He follows in the footsteps of several other big name poker players famed for making charitable contributions.
Perhaps the most notable is Barry Greenstein, a three-time WSOP bracelet holder, who gives all of his live tournament winnings to good causes, such as children-inc.org.
His generous ways have earned him the moniker Robin Hood of Poker.
