Thursday 31st July 2008 Microgaming Gets Malta Approval
Isle of Man-based online gambling software and games developer Microgaming has announced that Malta’s Lotteries and Gaming Authority (LGA) has approved its bingo software.
Microgaming has already received online gaming licences for its casino and poker products from the LGA, a licensing jurisdiction becoming increasingly popular with European Union (EU) operators and accepted by UK advertising authorities, and the addition of a gaming licence for bingo will enable it to service its growing base of operators in the EU.
Malta was the first EU member state to regulate Internet gambling and offers four classes of remote gaming licence. Applicants undergo probity checks as part of a wider fit and proper exercise along with business and technical assessments before a compliance audit.
“Malta continues to be a growing hub of European gaming with a successful regulatory model and we have continued our significant investment in Malta by setting up various onsite servers,” said Roger Raatgever, Chief Executive Officer for Microgaming.
“These will not only enhance connectivity and resilience for online gaming but also contribute to a superior experience for operators and players alike. This provides Microgaming with the opportunity to offer our operators an additional gateway into the EU and we are delighted to add bingo to our licensed software offering.”
