Sunday 31st August 2008 888 Takes Over The UK Open
Formerly known as the UK Open, but now renamed the 888 Poker Open, we are certain to see a parade of stars from all walks of like at Poker Open V which will take place between 27th October and 7th November. So who will be on show?

While the line up has yet to be confirmed there will only be 108 seats available with 8 filled by an array of celebrities, 65 going to professional poker players and the final 35 going to qualifiers from the 888 Pacific Poker online poker site. The total prize pool will be a minimum of $648,000 of which a cool $250,000 will go to the winner. The event is taking place at the Maidstone television studios and will be shown on SkySports some time in 2009.

Rumour has it that this will be the start of a concerted effort by SkySports to bring poker into the mainstream. Unconfirmed reports that the likes of Shane Warne, Ronnie O’Sullivan will be there along with professionals such as Andy Black, Roland De Wolf, Richard Ashby, Neil Channing and Jeff Fenech has already set the tone of what should be a very popular event.

However, if you want to book your place in the tournament make sure you check out the 888 qualification games.
