Tuesday 9th September 2008 Alain Roy takes home the spoils at Cannes
News that Alain Roy has taken home the spoils at the Partouche Poker Tour Cannes main event has been greeted with joy by many in the sport. In a game which was nip and tuck right up until the final heads-up Roy managed to bank the prize of $1,426,645 and grab the title!

Going into the final table we saw Stephane Bazin with 2,387,000, Alain Roy with 2,225,000 and the others all left in their wake from 1,456,000 downwards. While you would have guessed that the winner would come from the top two, Claudio Rinaldi pushed the pace, played his luck a little and ended up in a heads-up with Alain Roy but boy were the chips stacked in Roy’s favour!

When we tell you that Roy had 8,020,000 chips for the final hands and Rinaldi had 1,640,000 there could only be one winner as Roy could not fail to push home his massive advantage. Alain Roy had broken the back of them all at the final table and managed to end up top of the pile of 438 entrants. Nearly $1.5 million better off for 4 days work is certainly not bad if you can get it!
