Sunday 14th September 2008 WSOP 2008 : Ivan Demidov step forward
If ever there was a chance of a Russian victor in the WSOP event it seems as though Ivan Demidov is the man. He goes into the final table just 2 million chips behind Dennis Phillips and very confident that he can take the Russian poker industry to the very top of the industry!

Ivan Demidov resides in Moscow and came to WSOP 2008 with a large band of followers but very little hope of victory. However, he now has 24,400,000 chips to take to the final table and more than a good chance of actually lifting the title. While his poker world ranking is way back in the mid 5000s he has only being playing the game for 2 years and made great progress.

His official winnings to date total just over $65,000 (not an awful lot compared to some of the major players who will be at the final table) but the Ivan Demidov star is very much in the ascendancy. He first came to the attention of many in the industry when he bagged third place at the recent Doyle Brunson Five Diamond World Poker Classic taking home $21,710.
While many do not give the Russian star much of a chance, do not bet against the man who is leading the Russian poker revolution!
