Wednesday 17th September 2008 Online Poker Tournament Pays Out Six Six-Figure Sums
One of the highlights of PokerStars’s World Championship of Online Poker, and indeed the online poker calendar in general, is the 2-day event hosted at the world’s largest poker site.
This event began and finished this week, crowning a new champion in the shape of NYC P.I.M.P. and giving six-figure payouts to the top six players. PokerStars pros Humberto “Annoying Fucking Cunt”* Brenes and Bertrand “ElkY” Grospellier made deep runs through the field of 3,467 players who had all put up $1,000 for the tournament. The former finished in 16th place and the latter 14th, but Grospellier will not be too disappointed – earlier in the series he came second in the $25,000 buy-in heads-up event.
The last five standing agreed to a deal that left $60k in play for the winner:
Mary 717 — $288,155
CamoJr — $230,388
Mark “QuasiFiction” Hirleman — $340,000
Christian “C.K.” Kruel — $226,965
NYC P.I.M.P — $197,953
