Wednesday 26th November 2008 Do you prefer the table or the online poker format?
While there is no getting away from the fact that off-line poker has shown significant growth over the last few years, this is very much paled into insignificance compared to the online arena which continues to grow even in the current economic downturn. But which format do you prefer? Are you an off-line player or an online player?

There is no doubt that both have attractions for different styles of players and while off-line poker around the green baize certainly has its attractions, the larger jackpots seem to be appearing in the online arena. In many ways the off-line casino market, which is predominantly US based, is fighting a losing battle because of the massive difference in operational costs. The online arena is very much different in that servers, employees (significantly less than off-line casino operations) and the maintenance of the website are the only real fixed cost.

However, the online arena is much more accessible and competition is greater with online companies spending significantly more than their off-line counterparts on advertising and promotional campaigns. The truth is that many people play both off-line and online poker and significant numbers have no real alliance to any one format. Each format offers different attractions, different downsides but at the end of the day winning a jackpot is priceless!
