Thursday 27th November 2008 Recession? What recession?
When 57-year-old Bryan Clarke sat down at the poker table in the G Casino in Blackpool even he was under no apprehension that he was going to hit a £100,000 jackpot. However, that is exactly what Brian did in the semi-final of the Grosvenor UK Poker Tour which was held between the 13th and 16th of November.

Mr Clarke had gained entry to the competition for free using one of the many satellite games available on the Internet and joined around 350 other poker enthusiasts who had made it through to the semi-final. Due to a pair of Queens in the final stages, this allowed Bryan Clarke to power ahead and take his opponents to the cleaners. He believes that he had already won the game before he had even laid his last card!
The winner now goes on to the final of the Grosvenor UK Poker Tour in London this weekend where he has a chance to pick up an even greater jackpot. When he was nabbed after the win he suggested to the media that the key to his success was patience, focus and luck which when they come together are a very formidable force. Who will win the final of the event this weekend?
