Wednesday 25th February 2009 Online Casino Announces 2008 Profits
Ladbrokes announced that despite the economic downturn, the gambling site had managed to turn a profit in 2008. Overall, with the exception of “high rollers” the site increased profits with an 11.1% boost to revenue.
The action from “high rollers” was severely decreased. They still wagered £80m but this pales in comparison to the £170m they wagered in 2007. Overall, however, online casino players, poker players and sportsbetters wagered £172.2m in 2008.
Ladbrokes CEO Christopher Bell said: “Our performance in the first six weeks of the year shows a gross win growth of one percent, excluding High Rollers. Since the start of the year, [High Rollers’] business has contributed a further £24 million to operating profit to the organization.”
