Asian Poker Tour Macau Festival Publishes Full Schedule

The Asian Poker Tour (APT) has published the full schedule for its upcoming twelve-day Macau Festival revealing over 21 events alongside 15 official side tournaments. The APT Macau Festival is scheduled to run from August 12 to 23 at the Galaxy StarWorld Hotel And Casino and will also serve as the backdrop for the filming of the first poker-themed Chinese-language film, provisionally entitled Poker King, starring leading local actors and pop stars. The first five side events will take place between August 12 and 16 featuring guaranteed prize pools before the first Day 1A of the Main Event with a $4,438 buy-in kicks off on August 20. These side tournaments will include the $322 welcome event guaranteeing $12,903, an Asian Poker Tour Open re-buy and add-on event with a $148 entry fee promising $6,451 and a Greed event that costs $322 to enter but offers the chance for one player to scoop all of the $12,902 guaranteed prize pool. In addition, there will be the Hong Kong Game Club $148 re-buy and add-on tournament guaranteeing $19,354 before a second $148 re-buy and add-on tournament. “We’re delighted with this schedule,” said Chris Parker, Chief Executive Officer for the APT. “It really shows just how far the game has come in this part of the world. Our objective was to put player’s interests first in all scheduling as Macau will be a poker heaven in August.” In addition, there will be six and eight-handed tournaments with headhunter, invitational and celebrity events. There will also be a ladies tournament and heads-up event, both believed to be firsts for the region and an example of just how far the game has moved on in Asia over the previous year. The comprehensive side event schedule also includes a $21,161 buy-in high-rollers tournament while other side events have a buy-in from as little as $129. Another highlights include the Battle Of The Nations team event, which will be a no-limit hold’em tournament featuring teams of three members from the same country. This will see two teams facing each other at each table with the goal of eliminating the competition until only one nation remains. “This is an ambitious tournament schedule and there is something for everybody within it,” said Matt Savage, Tournament Director for the APT Macau Festival. “There’s no doubt it is player-friendly. Macau’s poker scene is booming and some of the formats will certainly be firsts for the region. The guarantees are great and it is exciting to see the heads-up and ladies event on the schedule. What shouldn’t be forgotten as well though is that The APT hosts the most legendary parties and the one in Macau even won awards last year.”
