Wednesday 28th July 2004 'The Big Blind' Released for Internet DVD Sales
The new critically acclaimed independent movie, the Big Blind, is now available for DVD sale over the Internet. The film, a black comedy, is being hailed as a tour de force by poker players and writers everywhere and is completely groundbreaking in the sense that it was funded solely by the poker winnings of its writer-director and producer, David James.
The film is made up of a series of vignettes, based on real poker players, which are wound into a funny, poignant storyline. Nine-time World Series of Poker champion, Phil Hellmuth, said: 'I was amazed that someone has finally made a really, really accurate film about us. It was funny, entertaining and most of all accurate.'
Lou Krieger called the film “a poignant dark comedy that depicts the sordid and twisted lives of the players who patronize a run-down poker room,” adding that it, “ultimately resolves itself in a message of hope and redemption.”
