Thursday 29th March 2007 Fans vote The Grinder top of the pros
Michael Mizrachi, alias The Grinder, has topped an online poll, grabbing 42 per cent of the votes to take the title of Most Deserved Player of the Year.
In Absolute Poker's e-survey of 50,000 gamers, Mizrachi beat legend Phil Hellmuth into second place, with 39 per cent of poker fans thinking he deserved it more. Last year, The Grinder won through to ten final tables, ultimately triumphing in seven of the tournaments. He bagged money prizes 31 times in professional matches, earning him $2,356,970 of poker winnings in 2006.
Mizrachi earlier earned Cardplayer's official Player of the Year title, but is touched by the support of his fans in the public. "It's one thing to have a major publication tell you you're the Player of the Year," he said. "But when the fans agree, you can't help but feel even more honoured."
