Tuesday 19th December 2006 Purple Lounge Reveals £15 Million Acquisition Proposition
Chris Gorman, the owner of online poker room Purple Lounge.com, has confirmed that the firm has recently turned down a £15 million acquisition offer for half of the company from an unnamed source, which is reportedly a rival online casino and gaming company.
An article appearing in the Sunday Herald alleges that after just a year in business, the owners of London-based Purple Lounge had turned down a £15 million offer from a rival casino and poker company to buy half of Purple Lounge, with the other 50 per cent remaining with the existing shareholders.
Gorman explained that that whilst he was flattered by the offer, he didn’t believe it was in his best interests to accept it. “I had no faith in that company going forward. We're still in discussions with other people,” he said.
“Everything is always for sale at the right price, but I don't think we'll do a deal at the moment,” Gorman continued. “We're growing so fast now. We will maximise that value next year and look at selling it towards the end of next year.”
Purple Lounge will undergo an expansion in February when more than 300 games are added to its existing poker room arm.
