Friday 21st December 2007 Virgin in trouble over strip poker
Virgin Mobile is facing criticism after children may find the new phone they got for Christmas has a strip poker game preloaded onto it.
Wink news reports that a popular mobile phone from Virgin Mobile is being sold, which already has the 'Sexy Poker' game loaded onto it as standard.
The game has provocative music and pixellated ladies in their underwear 'chat' dirty talk to the player. Some of the graphics feature women tied up or bending over cars and the player must win for the women to strip off.
Virgin Mobile has defended the material on its Wild Card handsets, saying that it is the responsibility of the parents to monitor what games their children have access to.
A statement from Virgin Mobile USA read: "With regard to the preloaded game on the Wild Card, we encourage parents to determine what is age appropriate for their children, and strongly support them taking an active role in learning about the technology their children are using."
Virgin cited its Terms of Service, which say: "Mobile content may be: unsuitable for children/minors; unreliable or inaccurate; or offensive, indecent or objectionable. You are solely responsible for evaluating the Mobile Content accessed by you or anyone using your Virgin Mobile phone."
The firm added that it would provide a refund or replace the phone with a strip poker-free handset if parents were disgruntled.
