Wednesday 30th April 2008 Big names tumble at WSOPC Caesars
A number of the best players in the world have already been eliminated from the World Series of Poker Circuit championship event at Caesars Palace after just one day of action.
Men Nguyen, Bertrand Grospellier, Erick Lindgren and World Poker Tour player of the year Jonathan Little all fell at the first hurdle, while Gavin Smith, Ted Lawson, Shannon Shorr and Michael Mizrachi were also knocked out.
Lawson had looked a good bet for the title beforehand having won a preliminary tournament over the weekend, but it was not to be and he went to the rail just before the play came to a close.
The three-day event concludes on Thursday and a big cheque awaits the victor, with a $1.67 million prize pot to be shared out.
Many top players have been attracted enough by potential winnings to pay $5,150 to enter, including Chris Ferguson, Bill Edler, Erik Seidel and Chau Giang.
There were 334 competitors in all, with the majority of the field leaving home empty handed on day one.
