It seems that many players are already looking past Christmas and New Year, with them already focusing on turning a profit in 2013. The PokerStars Caribbean Adventure kicks off on the 5th of January with the Super High Roller being the first event of note, and the field is starting to come together already as 30 players have put their names down for the $100k buy-in event.
One of them is the first ever winner of the event, whilst there are also a whole bunch of PokerStars Team Pros, established big name poker pros and even a part time player.
There is still two weeks to go until the start of the event. So we can certainly expect a few more names to be added to the list by then. However, we can only inform you of 14 players right now, this is because the PCA have a policy of only revealing the names on the entrants list if the players have opted to allow it. So here are the 14 we know, whilst the remaining 16 we will have to wait until next year to find out.
• Bertrand Grospellier
• Scott Seiver
• Eugene Katchalov
• Bill Perkins
• Anthony Gregg
• Jim McCrink
• Phillip Gruissem
• Tom Marchese
• Isaac Haxton
• John Juanda
• Jason Mercier
That list includes the very first winner of the event back in 2011, Eugene Katchalov who managed to defeat Daniel Negreanu heads up. The only other winner of the event was Viktor Blom last year, which marked his first ever major live tournament victory. We are not sure if Blom’s name is amongst the other 16 players, yet we are pretty sure he would like to defend his title.
With plenty of time for players to sign up, this event stands a very good chance of beating the current record of 38 entrants, with that record standing from 2011. What also makes the buy-in worth it is that whilst you obviously get the chance to win a life changing amount of money, the buy-in also gets you free accommodation for four days at the luxurious The Cove and $1k to spend on any food and drink during your stay and even a free limo service to and from the airport.
We cannot wait already, 2013 is looking like it is going to be another great year of poker and we have not even started the year yet. One thing that is for sure is that the PCA is always an excellent year starter.
