With the European Poker Tour Prague fast approaching this week it was left to the PokerStars Eureka Poker Tour Prague to ease many of the players into tournament mode yesterday. Day 1 saw a huge crowd attracted to the felt as 366 players took to their seats in order to progress as far as they can in this event.
This means that records are set to be broken as 400 players have already put their name down to play in Day 1b, meaning last year’s attendance of 644 has been shattered.
There were just about 120 players that survived on Day 1a with Jean-Yves Mallat being the player that is sitting pretty at the top of the chip counts currently. He will be quietly confident of a deep run now but will not be counting his chickens just yet at this early stage.
There were some big names that started the day as PokerStars Team Pro Eugene Katchalov, Jan Bendik, Roger Hairebedien and former WSOP Main Event November Niner Antoine Saout all decided to take to the felt. None of them managed to make it through however and will now set their sights on the upcoming EPT Prague.
Day 1b as we mentioned has already had 400 players register and there are again going to be some big names involved. PokerStars Team Pros Martin Hruby, Christophe and Mathias De Meulder, Marcin Horecki, Henrique Pinho and Alex Kravchenko have all put their names down for this one so we expect some fireworks at the tables tomorrow.
