The Isle of Man is expected to attract hundreds of poker players later this month, as PokerStars announced a UK and Ireland Poker Tour event. This is the first time that the Isle of Man becomes a UKIPT stop and the Main Event will set players back £1,100. Scheduled for October 31st, this will be the highlight of the circuit and will have a £500,000 guaranteed prize pool.Daniel Negreanu and Jason Mercier are just two of the PokerStars pros who have announced their intention of participating in the UKIPT Isle of Man tournament. Their presence should act as an incentive for those who have second thoughts about paying £1,100 out of pocket, as these poker professionals are not usually competing at such low stakes. Another premiere is that for the first time ever, PokerStars employees will be allowed to participate in any of the events in the circuit.
Those who want to put their skills to the test have a rare opportunity to do so, and will have a total of 12 tournaments to win a share of the prize pool. It all begins on October 30 with the £150+£15 No Limit Hold’em Six Handed event, one of the most affordable events at the UKIPT Isle of Man tournament. At the opposite end of the spectrum we have the No Limit Hold’em High Roller 8-Handed £2,000+£200 tournament scheduled for Saturday, November 2nd.
PokerStars routinely presents its players with the opportunity of securing a place at a major tournament by winning satellites and UKIPT Isle of Man makes no exception. Qualifiers have gone live online and depending on budget and expectations, players can seat down at £100 qualifiers or start from rock bottom and play in freerolls. What matters the most is the result, so those who eventually book a place for the Maine Event or any of the side events will have good reasons to celebrate.
