PokerStars Sunday Events – De Muelder Comes Close

The weekend once again saw PokerStars provide their highly popular Sunday schedule of online events and we are once again on hand to summarise the action in the two biggest of them.

There was action aplenty and PokerStars Team Pro Christophe de Muelder almost had a weekend to remember by coming close to taking down the PokerStars Sunday Million. Take a look at our quick roundup of those two events below.

PokerStars Sunday Warm-Up

The first big event played out yesterday was that of the PokerStars Sunday Warm-Up and provided an extra treat for its registrants as due to a software glitch the late registration function was not working. This meant that only 1,201 players would fight it out for the guaranteed $500k rather than that of the usual 3,000 plus.

171 players would be the ones to benefit from the overlay in this event yet it was “KeyserMM” was the player that took the most advantage of that fact by securing the $85,000 first place payout after seeing off “jpgossn” during heads up.

How It Finished

1st) KeyserMM – $85,000.00

2nd) jpgossn – $62,500.00

3rd) petter85 – $47,450.00

PokerStars Sunday Million

Next up was the godfather of weekly online poker tournaments as the PokerStars Sunday Million once again provided superb poker action. We even had a PokerStars Team Pro in Christophe de Muelder coming extremely close to winning the title, yet he had to settle for a 6th place finish.

There were 8,207 entrants in this one bringing a prize pool of $1,641,000 which would gleefully be shared among the top 1,170 finishers in the event.

The British player “Monchonidas” would be the one to prevail in the end after play was sped up due to a four way chop of the deal. He walked away with the title and a payout of $163k after seeing off the Canadian “insanocut” during heads up play.
