A new year has begun and PokerStars players are anxiously waiting for the first important event of 2014, the Sunday Million. Meanwhile, German player “ibotown” is celebrating his victory in the Super Tuesday, the last major tournament at Poker Stars in 2013. He clawed his way to the top and outshined a field of 282 to collect a payout of $53,508 in one of the shortest events of December.
With 283 players paying the buy-in, the prize pool stood at $283k and only the first 36 players would finish in the money.
“MountainRo$e” from Israel had 469k chips to his name at that moment, more than the next two players combined and the first chance of winning the last PokerStars Super Tuesday of 2013. He failed to live up to these expectations and finished in the 4th place, eliminated by Norway’s “Assad91”, who was a huge underdog at the start of the final table. He had the shortest stack but his luck changed for the better and doubled up three times to reach the heads-up stage with the biggest stack.
“Ibotown” enjoyed a relatively smooth ride to the heads-up, but much to his credit he played brilliantly at the final table. He turned 133k chips into 640k and overtook his rival after just two hands, prompting “Assad91” to suggest a mutually beneficial deal. The two players agreed to split the prize according to their stacks and play for the remaining $5,000 which the German won with a pair of 3s. His opponent can consider himself unlucky to lose with pocket 8s, but the deal rendered this bad luck insignificant.
This is the list of 9 players who reached the final table in the last PokerStars Super Tuesday of 2013 and their payouts:
