Lupus is an autoimmune that affects millions of people worldwide whilst it is sadly incurable and extremely painful for those unfortunate enough to suffer with it. For this reason charities like Lupus LA do their very best to raise money for the sufferers and awareness about the disease.
Their latest event was a charity poker event that brought out loads of celebrities and sporting heroes alike to try and bring in more money to help people that have the disabling disease.
World renowned poker professional Jason Somerville also attended to offer his support and actually managed to make the final table. He couldn’t go on and win, though we are sure he can live with the fact that though he didn’t win, there was plenty of money raised.

Others that attended included actress and poker player Shannon Elizabeth, actor and part time player Jason Alexander, basketball legend Michael Jordan, MMA fighter Tito Ortiz and former Rocky actor Carl Weathers. There were many more too from football players, actors and models who wanted to get involved in such a great event.
In the end it was the actor Roger Cross that won the event, which is no mean feat considering there were plenty of players with far more poker experience taking part.

It is always great when poker players try their best to do their part when it comes to charity, so we applaud Somerville for taking time out to try and promote this disease and get some money for the sufferers.
