It’s always interesting to see what the poker professionals are up to. These players have dedicated their lives to the game in both online and live events, they work hard to win events and take the title of professional poker player.
Chris Moneymaker is a household name to anyone who enjoys playing poker; he is the man who drew people to online poker, which was named the “Moneymaker effect”. This is the man that won an online event to win a seat at the World Series of Poker main event, which he went on to win. He won £2.5 million in that World Series of Poker event back in 2003.
Chris was born in Atlanta, Georgia and has masters in accounting degree, but it is poker that has made him one of the most famous poker players of all time. He has played the game around the world with his National Heads-Up Championship runner up place winning him a good $300,000 last year. It will be interesting to see how Chris Moneymaker does in the 2012 events taking place throughout this year.
Daniel is a Canadian born player who moved to Las Vegas following his dream to become a professional poker player. He is one of the highest earning players and won his first World Series of Poker events at the tender age of twenty three, awarding him the nickname “kid poker.”
He is also known on the World Poker Tour circuit and in 2004 won the Bogotá Poker Open and the Diamond World Poker Tour. A second place win at the Super High Roller event in The Bahamas in 2000 saw him take home another considerable cash prize.
Daniel has also authored several poker books and strategy articles when he’s not playing in online and live events around the world.
Vanessa started out studying as a securities litigation degree at Duke University, but has taken to poker like a duck to water. She completed a game theory course at the university and has applied this problem solving course to her poker game play, making her one of the most successful women poker plays to date.
Her first live event saw her taking home over $250,000 at the 2006 World Series of Poker event and in 2007 she won the main WCOOP event taking home a further $700,000.
Vanessa grows from strength to strength in both live and online poker tournaments and we will see what this year has in store for her with the World Series of Poker 2012 event in full swing.
Bertrand is a poker professional from France. He started playing online games and moved to Korea where he competed in the Korean Pro Gaming League; in 2004 he retired from online gaming and decided to try a new challenge, poker.
His gaming career has definitely been a plus when it comes to poker helping him in his professional online poker career. He is the first player to achieve Supernova Elite status in the PokerStars VIP club.
Bertrand now plays both live and online events winning $399,953 in Copenhagen at the PokerStars European Poker Tour in 2007 and in 2011 he won his first World Series of Poker bracelet and a good $331,639. In total last year this pro player took home over £1 million, winning four separate events.

The advantage that many of the professional poker players have today is the ability to play both online and in live events, what many people don’t realise is some of the online poker tournaments can offer large cash prizes.
