Day 2 of the UKIPT Season 3 Bristol is firmly in the back as an action packed day saw the field of 239 players dramatically reduced to just 45 who will be coming back later on today for Day 3. The amazing fact about today’s action was that these eliminations all occurred within just eight levels meaning that on average there was a player eliminated approximately every two and a half minutes.
Whilst there were plenty of losers, there was one really big winner on Day 2, Robert Bull who amassed 581,600 in chips. That’s a stark improvement on the 19k he came into the day with, that’s for sure. The 20 year old stormed into the lead in a hand late on where he won a huge pot whilst holding pocket aces against the Ad-Qd of Sam Grafton.
He actually qualified for this event in a £77 tournament on PokerStars and had one of those days where everything just seemed to go his way. He is not there just yet though as there is still a long way to go, whilst he has players such as Simon Randall with 438k in chips and UKIPT Online title winner Wojtek Barzantny with 411k right on his tail.
Other Notables Through To Day 3!
Whilst the field was drastically reduced we still had some other notable players making it through to Day 2. We saw Bambos Xanthos, Sam Grafton, Nik Persaud and Jason Tompkins all fairing well enough to make it into another days action, whilst we also have a former UKIPT winner making the grade in Andrew Couldridge who won the UKIPT Nottingham a couple of years ago.
The Bubble Boy!
Each of the players who survived the day will now know that they will at least get paid the minimum cash out, which obviously meant that we had to have one player who missed out by one place to become the bubble boy.
The unlucky player on this occasion was Christopher Nicholas who had his pocket kings cracked by the As-Js of Ed Ash.
Both of the remaining PokerStars Team pros were eliminated a long time before the bubble as both Vicky Coren and Christophe De Meulder started the day with low stacks. De Meulder had previously struggled to get callers when pushing all in with top hands, yet got called and lost when pushing with a mediocre hand.
With Day 3 set to start later on, we will be right here to bring you exactly what happened and whether or not Bull can keep bouncing along!
