Day 1b of the PokerStars UKIPT Marbella did exactly what was expected of it, bringing in another huge field of 457 to give a total of 750 for the event meaning the €500k guaranteed prize pool was easily busted.
In fact the prize pool was announced as €720k and that it would be shared among the top 111 finishers in the event.
The players on Day 1b could not quite match the chip count achieved by Ken Lennaard on Day 1a but a couple did come close. Ursu Dennis and PokerStars Team Pro were the best performers on Day 1b after notching up chip counts of 146,300 and 131,700 respectively.
Bagged up 135k #UKIPTMarbella back at it tomorrow
— Jake Cody (@JakeCody) June 12, 2014
For Jake Cody this was an especially good performance since he literally stepped off a plane from the WSOP in Las Vegas to play in this event. It shows that he is not just here to make the numbers up and wants to get a win before flying back to the big events.
He was not the only PokerStars representative to make it through either. PokerStars Team Pro Leo Margets also progressed into Day 2 with PokerStars Team Online players Dale Phillip and Vicente Delgado also getting through.
They were joined by some other big names such as Gaelle Garcia Diaz, Sam Grafton and EPT winner Adrian Mateos.
There will be 336 players in total heading into Day 2 which starts at 12pm noon CET today. Come back tomorrow to see which of those players will be getting into the money.
