WCOOP Challenge Series Finishes Up With Many Big Winners

PokerStars are certainly not the type to shy away from giving their players the ability to win even more money over the festive period and their December Festival definitely went the way of confirming that notion. The WCOOP Challenge Series was the culmination of that festival and it gave players of a wide array of bankrolls the chance to not only compete in huge events that were offering life changing payouts but also free seats in the WCOOP (World Championship of Online Poker) Main Event which is worth $5,200 each alone.

Between Friday the 20th of December and the 22nd they held eight events, each giving the players a shot at making some large payouts  and possibly even winning the events and the WCOOP seats to go with them.

The first six were completed over the weekend with the last two getting finished up just a few hours ago. Among the first six events were some big winners with the likes of “Timorm1” taking home $205,495 in event 4 and “buckguy2200” $170,579.50 in event 5 on Sunday.

However these two payouts were nothing compared to what was to come when the remaining two events were played out last night. The first event last night was the Special Edition of the Sunday Million which attracted a massive field of $11,644 players and created a prize pool of $2,328,800. Among that field were around 25 PokerStars Team Pros such as Liv Boeree, Lex Veldhius, Eugene Katchalov and Isaac Haxton but the two day event was eventually won the Dutch player “roscootje459” who scooped a $302,291.97 payday along with a free seat into the WCOOP Main Event.

Then we had the big one as the WCOOP Challenge Series Main Event created a prize pool of $3,082,000 after 1,541 players parted ways with the $2,100 buy-in. After two long days that event finally came to an end with “DEHELLHOUND” coming out on top of that field to earn an early Christmas present of $516,235.

The Main Event Final Standings

1st) DEHELLHOUND – $516,235.00

2nd) UncleAnte9 – $377,545.00

3rd) Carlos “Poeira4″ Branco – $285,085.00

4th) lasagnaaammm – $209,576.00

5th) TsubasaOO – $151,018.00

6th) Face333X – $120,198.00

7th) Yoo4 – $89,378.00

8th) babecallme – $58,558.00

9th) GM_VALTER – $31,744.60

That result brought us to the end of the December Festival over at PokerStars and the site as well as most of the players will now be looking forward to some family and friend time over Christmas, though we do still expect some to sneakily log on in order to win some more money across the festive period.
